Words have a lasting impact,
even the most seemingly insignificant ones.
Simple sentences morph into occult scars
that radiate with permanence and persistence within our heads.
Intrusive echoes left to remind us
of days long past and moments long gone.
Mere words become our
blessings and burdens.
Easily spoken,
yet impossible to forget.

Given he’s a fellow WI resident, you might’ve heard of Greg Koch (though I recognize it’s unlikely). One of his tunes from the “… and the Tone Controls” days is called Words, and you can probably see why your title and content made me think of the lyrics: “sticks’n stones can break your bones; but words can break your heart”.
